Underlying cause of death (time series classification)

The table does not show the full classification, but the category '00-54 Total' includes all deaths. A change in the WHO coding rules has reduced pneumonia as an underlying cause in the category '31-35 Diseases of the respiratory system' since 2005, after which pneumonia appears in the statistics mainly as an immediate cause of death. The key between this short list and the different Classification of Diseases is described on the homepage of the statistics on causes of death under Classifications.
