These statistics apply the regional division of 1 January 2025 to the whole time series.

Underlying cause of death (time series classification)

A change in the WHO coding rules has reduced pneumonia as an underlying cause since 2005, after which pneumonia appears in the statistics mainly as an immediate cause of death. The key between this short list and the different Classification of Diseases is described on the homepage of the statistics on causes of death under Classifications.
