Documentation of statistics . missing The population of vocational education changes in the statistical reference year 2021. Before 2021, the population includes persons who participated in curriculum-based initial vocational education leading to a qualification (not persons in apprenticeship training). Starting from the statistical reference year 2021, the population includes persons who intend to complete the entire qualification in initial vocational education, and the table also includes persons in apprenticeship training.

Sector of education

The selection is university of applied sciences degree, total:
-includes the sum of the values Bachelor's degree at university of applied sciences, daytime programmes and Bachelor's degree at university of applied sciences, multiform programmes
The selection is university education:
- includes both Bachelor's and Master's degrees

Start of studies

The time that has passed since studies were started in the review year. For example, in the statistical reference year 2021, the starting of studies 3.5 years ago describes persons who started studies in the sector of education in question in 2018.

Origin

The origin is determined based on the country of birth data of the person's parents.
Using the origin classification it is easy to distinguish between first (born abroad) and second (born in Finland) generation Finns with a foreign back-ground.
Persons whose both parents or the only known parent have been born abroad are considered to be of foreign origin. Persons who have been born abroad and whose parents' data are not included in the Population Information System are also considered to be of foreign origin.
