Main income source of household-dwelling unit

The main source of income for a household is from wages, entrepreneurial income, property income, and transfers, which is the type of income from which the members of the household collectively received the most income during the year. It does not describe the activity of the person or household. If the main source of income was transfers, the source of income has been further specified according to subcategories of transfers. If the main source of income was housing allowance or income support, the household has been classified according to the second largest source of transfer income.

Dwelling population, persons. The dwelling population comprises those persons who resided permanently in dwellings on 31 December.

Persons at risk of poverty are considered those whose household's disposable money income per consumption unit (so-called equivalent income) is lower than 60 per cent of the equivalent median money income of all households.

At risk of poverty rate (threshold 60 % of median)

Low-income individuals are those whose household's available cash income per consumption unit (so-called equivalent cash income) is less than 60 percent of the median available cash income of all households' equivalents. The proportion of the population falling below this income threshold is referred to as the low-income rate. The monetary threshold for low income varies annually. This definition is based on recommendations from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

Disposable monetary income per consumption unit, median

Equivalent income, which is the disposable monetary income of a dwelling unit (or economic household) divided by consumption units (Eurostat scale). When the statistical unit is a person, equivalent income describes the level of a person's economic well-being more broadly than personal income.
