Documentation of statistics Pre-primary education and open ECEC activities are not included. Data for 2015 to 2020 are based on data collected by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare. Data since 2021 are from the Varda database of the Finnish National Agency for Education. The statistics also include the data on Åland, which are obtained from Statistics and Research Åland (ÅSUB). The share of children aged 1 to 6 (children aged 1 to 6/population aged 1 to 6) is used for the participation rate in early childhood education and care. The Total figure is calculated for those aged 0 to 7 (all children/population aged 0 to 7).
