Description
Quality description
These statistics apply the 2017 regional division to the whole time series = 311
municipalities. Inter-municipal migration has been revised to correspond to the
regional division of 1 January 2017, that is, migration between merged municipalities
has been removed.

Vital statistics and population

Natural increase

Natural increase, or excess of births is the difference of the number of
livebirths and deaths.

Inter-municipal in-migration

Inter-municipal migration was amended in the whole time series to correspond
to the regional division of 2017, that is, migration between united
municipalities was removed.

Inter-municipal out-migration

Inter-municipal migration was amended in the whole time series to correspond
to the regional division of 2017, that is, migration between united
municipalities was removed.

Net migration

Net migration is the difference of immigration and emigration.

Total net migration

Total net migration is the sum of net migration and net inter-municipal
migration.

Population increase

Population increase is the sum of natural increase, net inter-municipal
migration and net migration.

Population correction

Population correction is the difference of total change and population
increase. Corrections are mainly adjustments made later to errors occurring
in handling of notices of removal.

Total change

Total change is the difference of the population at the end of the statistical
reference year and the previous year.

Population

Population at the end of the year 31 December. Information about the
population permanently resident in the municipality is obtained from the
Population Register Centre's Population Information System.
