These statistics apply the regional division of 1 January 2021 to the whole time series.

Underlying cause of death (time series classification)

A change in the WHO coding rules has reduced pneumonia as an underlying cause since 2005, after which pneumonia appears in the statistics mainly as an immediate cause of death.
